doula care
Services supported by a doula including birth, labor, postpartum, and newborn care may not be accessible to as many as we desire to serve. Doulas also support those who have experienced perinatal loss or who are unable to carry a child to term for various reasons. This fund supports assistance with these needs as well.
baby showers
At Khumalo Birth and Beyond, we believe the village should shower a mother, so we frequently host community baby showers and donate baby and family items to those who need them most! The Village Fund helps to support these efforts and more in the community!
meal services
In our current era, food security (especially nutritious food security) is an additional barrier to appropriate prenatal, postpartum, and newborn healthcare. There is also the issue of low government support for proper maternity leave, leading to families working more and spending less quality time with their loved ones. The Village Fund is designed to bring more families together; if a healthy meal can provide an extra hour, we see that effort as a success.
materials & equipment
Doulas require various tools to create an optimal birth experience for all. Having the support from the community to make that happen, means everything! With each new method or adaptation for birth, we create a deeper sense of how to support more diverse birthing experiences.
